About the Exhibit Space
There are two exhibit spaces available at the San Mateo Main Library:
- Main gallery - 1st floor meeting room hallway
- 3rd floor - Cafe walls & Teen Lounge
Selection Process
How often does the library select artwork?
- Twice a year the library convenes a Library Art Selection Committee that includes representatives from the community and library staff.
- Review dates are scheduled in the fall for exhibits to be scheduled January through June, and in the spring for exhibits to be scheduled July through December.
What kind of art is selected?
- The Committee seeks art that represents the diversity of our community and varied artistic styles and mediums.
- Potential exhibitors must have a minimum of twelve (12) pieces available to hang for the duration of the one-month exhibit period.
- Art pieces may be available for sale, but that is not a requirement for exhibiting.
